Gutter Installation & Repair in Kansas City
KC spring and summer storms drop heavy rainfall on roofs that often have undersized gutters from the original build. We install seamless 5K and 6K aluminum or galvanized-steel gutters sized for actual KC storm volumes, with downspouts routed away from the foundation — backed-up gutters rot fascia and soffits within a season. On older Shirtwaists and Craftsman bungalows we also replace the original metal gutters and downspouts where corrosion has cut through. Combine with exterior painting for the best value.

Kansas City gets strong spring thunderstorms that overwhelm undersized gutters. We see a lot of 4-inch gutters on older homes that cannot handle the volume. Upgrading to 5-inch or 6-inch seamless gutters with properly routed downspouts makes a noticeable difference.
Gutters do one job: move water away from your house. When they work, you do not think about them. When they fail, you get foundation damage, rotted fascia, flooded basements, and stained siding. It is one of the least glamorous parts of a house, and one of the most important.
Seamless aluminum, formed on site
We install seamless aluminum gutters custom-formed on site. Seamless means the gutter is one continuous piece along each run of your roofline, with no joints or splices where leaks can develop. We bring the forming machine to your property and make each section to the exact length needed.
Most residential jobs use 5-inch K-style gutters, which handle normal rainfall on a standard roof. For larger roofs, steeper pitches, or areas with heavy rainfall, we install 6-inch gutters that move more water. We will recommend the right size based on your roof area and local weather patterns.
Downspouts and drainage
Downspouts are just as important as the gutters themselves. We route downspouts to direct water at least four to six feet away from the foundation. That might mean running extensions across the yard, tying into an underground drain, or adding splash blocks at the discharge point. Poor downspout placement is the number one reason gutters fail to protect a home.
Slope matters. Gutters need to pitch toward the downspouts at about a quarter inch for every 10 feet of run. Too little slope and the water sits in the gutter. Too much and it overshoots the downspout. We set the slope with a level during installation and check it before we leave.
Fascia and removal
Before we install new gutters, we inspect the fascia board they mount to. Fascia takes a beating from water, ice, and sun exposure. If the wood is rotted or soft, we replace the damaged sections first. Hanging new gutters on bad fascia is a waste of money. They will pull away within a year or two.
If you have existing gutters that need to come off, we handle removal and disposal as part of the job. We also check the soffit and drip edge while the old gutters are down, since those areas are hard to inspect otherwise.
Leaf guards and materials
We offer leaf guard and gutter screen options for homes surrounded by trees. These keep debris out of the gutter while still allowing water to flow in. They reduce maintenance significantly but are not a replacement for periodic inspection.
Materials-wise, we primarily install .027 gauge aluminum, which is the industry standard for residential seamless gutters. It resists rust, handles temperature swings, and holds paint well. We also install galvanized steel for commercial or heavy-duty applications where extra strength is needed.
Colors and timeline
Color options are wide. Aluminum gutters come in over 25 factory colors, so matching your trim, fascia, or roof line is straightforward. Factory color lasts longer than field-painted gutters because it is baked on at the mill.
A typical gutter installation on a single-story home takes one day. Two-story homes or larger properties take one to two days. We clean up all debris, old materials, and metal scraps before we leave.

Gutter Installation & Repair questions
What is the difference between 5-inch and 6-inch gutters? expand_more
Five-inch gutters are standard for most homes and handle normal rainfall. Six-inch gutters hold about 40 percent more water and are better for larger roofs, steep pitches, or areas with heavy rain. We measure your roof and calculate the water load to recommend the right size.
How long do seamless aluminum gutters last? expand_more
With proper installation and basic maintenance, seamless aluminum gutters last 20 to 30 years. The fasteners and sealant at the corners and end caps may need attention sooner. Around 10 to 15 years. But the gutter sections themselves hold up for decades.
Do I need leaf guards on my gutters? expand_more
If you have trees overhanging your roof, leaf guards save you time and money on cleaning. They are not maintenance-free. You still need to brush off debris from the top occasionally. But they prevent clogs inside the gutter. We can install them with new gutters or add them to existing ones.
Can you repair my existing gutters instead of replacing them? expand_more
Sometimes. If the gutters are structurally sound but have leaking seams, sagging sections, or bad slope, we can often repair them. If they are heavily rusted, dented, or pulling away from rotted fascia, replacement is the better investment. We will be straight with you about which option makes sense.
How far should downspouts extend from the house? expand_more
At least four to six feet. The goal is to move water away from the foundation, not just off the roof. We route downspouts with extensions, underground drains, or splash blocks depending on your yard layout and drainage needs.
Gutter Installation & Repair for Kansas City homes
Kansas City has its own signature. The Shirtwaist, with brick on the first floor and wood or shingle above. We paint a lot of them, plus Tudors in Brookside, Craftsman bungalows in Waldo, and suburban homes across both sides of the state line. From historic Hyde Park to new builds in Overland Park, we've done the work.
KC summers hit 85%+ humidity, and that's hard on paint during application and curing. We have two good exterior painting windows. Late April through early June, and mid-September through mid-October. On Shirtwaist homes we use masonry-appropriate coatings on the brick lower level and exterior-grade paints up top, all in one project with one crew.
Where we work
We cover the full KC metro on both sides of the state line. From the Plaza, Brookside, and Waldo to Overland Park, Leawood, Lee's Summit, Liberty, and Independence.
